Newberry Country Land Stewards
We envision a Sustainable Newberry Country, where we conserve and protect the environment, steward our natural resources, and promote public access and enjoyment of our region’s many natural wonders.

Clean Up Trash and Garbage from Forested Areas
Working with the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and other federal, state and local government agencies, clean up trash and garbage from Newberry Country forested areas, including areas where homeless camps are located.
Since August 2024, the Newberry Country Land Stewards and its partners have made significant strides in maintaining our public lands, removing over 720 cubic yards of trash, more than 26 abandoned RVs, multiple propane tanks, pallets, shopping carts, and other miscellaneous items. This remarkable achievement, totaling more than 1,099 volunteer hours, reflects the dedication of our many members and partners.

VOLUNTEER!
What to bring: Sturdy shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, your favorite tools and a positive attitude! We’ll provide trash bags and lunch!
This is a fantastic opportunity to give back to our community, meet fellow outdoor enthusiasts, and make a tangible impact.

It’s available for both iPhone and Android devices. The app allows users to geolocate trash and abandoned vehicles, mark locations for cleanup, and document areas that have been cleaned up.
