Building a Vibrant Future for Newberry Country
The Newberry Regional Partnership (NRP) is a community-led nonprofit advancing rural vitality across Newberry Country—south Deschutes County and northern Klamath County, including La Pine, Sunriver, Three Rivers, and surrounding rural areas. Home to roughly 21,000 permanent residents across about 368 square miles, this diverse region blends small-town living, resort lifestyles, and open landscapes.
NRP’s mission is to strengthen the area through civic engagement, community-led action, and partnerships. Working with the Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council and multiple local stakeholders, NRP developed the Newberry Country Strategic Action Plan 2025-2030 after extensive surveys, focus groups, interviews, polls and an Action Summit.
The plan outlines 27 strategies across seven focus areas: resilient (wildfire preparedness and public safety), livable (growth, planning, and infrastructure), sustainable (environment, natural resources and recreation), thriving (health, wellness, and human services), prosperous (jobs, housing, and
economic development), inspired (education and youth), and vibrant (arts, culture, and civic
life).
