On Saturday, October 10th, 26 dedicated volunteers showed up ready to work.

Just off Darlene Road in La Pine, the Newberry Country Land Stewards (NCLS) took on an abandoned camp and cleared 90 yards of trash in record time. In a single day, this hardworking crew transformed a neglected site back into land that can breathe again.

This was our last large-scale cleanup of 2026 — a strong finish to a year of stewardship, teamwork, and real results on the ground. We will be working on our annual report in the coming weeks and make it available to you. We think you will be surprised at the range of participation for this years project.

Thank you to every volunteer who gave their time and energy, and to the partners who helped make it possible. Your efforts matter. The land is cleaner because you showed up!

We’ll be back in 2027 with a new schedule of cleanups. Follow us or Newberry Country Land Stewards so you don’t miss the next chance to make a difference.
