General operating support will strengthen community-led work across Newberry Country
LA PINE, Ore. — October 26, 2026 — The Newberry Regional Partnership (NRP) has received a $2,000 general operating support grant from the Stensland Cultural Fund of Oregon Community Foundation. The grant will help the organization advance rural vitality in Newberry Country—the region encompassing La Pine, Sunriver, Three Rivers, and surrounding areas of south Deschutes County and north Klamath County—through civic engagement, community-led action, and partnerships.
NRP coordinates multiple action teams focused on wildfire resilience and defensible space (Defensible Space Action Team – DSAT), public lands stewardship and cleanup (Newberry Country Land Stewards – NCLS) , community health and wellness (Live Well La Pine), education and lifelong learning, and economic prosperity including workforce development and housing. The organization also led development of the Newberry Country Strategic Action Plan 2025–2030, a community-driven roadmap based on extensive local input.
“This support from the Stensland Cultural Fund of Oregon Community Foundation helps us keep the lights on and the work moving forward,” said Kathy DeBone, Community Coordinator of the Newberry Regional Partnership. “General operating funds are essential for a small, place-based organization like ours. They allow us to continue convening partners, supporting volunteer action teams, and responding to the priorities residents have identified—from wildfire preparedness and public lands stewardship to access to healthy food, education, and economic opportunity.”
